Seeds Parent and Teacher Guide

Seeds is a rich story full of positive messages that inspire children to apply in their lives.

By discussing this story with children, we can help them understand the importance of caring for themselves and others, and planting seeds of goodness in the world, as it explains to children that every simple act and every small idea can make a big difference in the world if it is nurtured and cared for properly.

It provides examples of the benefits of different seeds and emphasizes the need to provide the physical seeds with soil, sun, water, and air for them to grow and thrive. And the metaphorical seeds with patience, faith, positivity, and love for them to grow and thrive too.

The story begins with plant seeds, the reader is introduced to seeds before and after they grow. A small watermelon seed turns into a large and delicious watermelon. A brown apple seed grows into a red apple. Seeds develop into a source of healing and refreshment, such as the orange in winter and the cantaloupe fruit in summer. The book highlights contrasting elements such as a short small date seed turns into a tall palm tree.

The dry mango seed produces the juiciest of fruits. Seeds also grow into homes and habitats; an acorn grows to become a large home for the squirrel family. Seeds produce plants with many uses. The rose seed produces flowers whose fragrance spreads to faraway places and is used in perfumes. The cotton seed produces cotton, which is used to make beautiful clothes.

The book then swiftly moves on to the moral seeds that are inside us; the seeds of saying encouraging loving words, the seeds of ideas and dreams, the seeds of good deeds no matter how small they are. And that with the right care and attention, while being patient and keeping faith, these seeds will grow, and their positive results and effects will be seen and felt in a person’s life.
